Dr. Andrew Wakefield on Re-Licensure – “I will now give this very, very serious consideration”

At the annual AutismOne conference – 26.5 minutes into the below Twitter-linked video of a Q/A session on the documentary Vaxxed – director and much-maligned doctor Andrew Wakefield said he will give “very, very serious consideration” to getting his medical license restored. His comment was met with applause and cheers from the audience, who gave him a standing ovation.

Dr. Wakefield first expressed interest in having his license restored earlier this year, and Autism Investigated received a signed letter from the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) saying they would consider his application for restoration and “any further supporting evidence” he provides. He then drew criticism from Autism Investigated after saying in a text message that re-licensure still was not a priority for him.

But on the night of May 28th, Dr. Wakefield had a well-received change of tune that couldn’t have come a moment too soon. He was gracious for being reminded earlier that day that it was approval from an ethics committee of the National Health Service (NHS) that the GMC claimed he needed but lacked when he arranged for blood to be taken from children at his son’s birthday party. However, those rules did not apply to those children because they were not patients. So the birthday party allegations are totally nullified.

All the GMC findings that caused Dr. Wakefield’s medical license to be revoked and his papers retracted have really been overturned four years ago. Unfortunately, it is because his medical license remains revoked and his papers remain retracted that he continues to be dismissed. Winning back his medical license would take away those excuses to dismiss him once and for all.

When the audience was done clapping for Dr. Wakefield after he expressed his renewed interest in restoration, he concluded, “If I am vindicated it will give credence to the parents’ story”. Then someone from the audience rose up and said, “the world needs more doctors like you. You need your license back.”

I hope Dr. Wakefield knows that millions of us not only support him in this endeavor but would willingly donate to a legal fund if that would help. His licensure reinstatement would send a vital message to those that continue to ignorantly deny the damage vaccines are doing.

Count me in also – although I believe it to be a tremendous long shot, if such were to transpire it would undoubtedly transform the whole yet-to-be-held-or-heard debate.

Actually…the sheer ‘unlikelihood’ of an outcome such as Wakefield’s license being restored invariably entails a kind of irresistible momentum. Things that must on no account occur tend…to happen. And it’s conceivable. For instance, should the GMC decide that if Wakefield were encouraged to consider court proceedings he might do less damage (i.e. so as to ‘contain’ him), then, even if such steps are adopted as an ostensible measure, the situation would nonetheless have advanced. As a damage-control issue, it is perhaps not inconceivable…

Wow, you must have a crystal ball kicking around.

I mean, we hear little or nothing about such intentions for years. And now he’s suddenly deciding to seriously consider it, within two months of you writing an article titled ” No Dr. Wakefield, Re-Licensure Should Be Your Priority”

Please , our hopes cannot rest on something like this .
Why would the UK authorities now decide to change their colours and be honest .
I am in London and the BBC has NEVER told the truth about vaccination , NEVER , not once .
And the BBC completely controls all the information we receive .
The whole of the UK has never heard of William Thompson (BBC has never published his name).
The whole of the UK knows next to nothing about the film Vaxxed at Tribeca and DeNiro .
The BBC and the British media has spent the last 6 months trying to make BEXSERO a vaccination added to the child schedule to prevent 40 or so casualties annually (but the vaccine has HARM_rate of 1 in 45).
“NewsNight” the country’s most prestigious serious News Program hosted by the very highly regarded heavyweight Jeremy Paxman actually told the nation to stop researching vaccines on the net and to trust our Crimino_health authorities (which I view as the equivalent of the Nazi burning of books) ,
The UK did everything in its power to avoid liability for the Swine Flu vaccine narcolepsy (but scandanavia screwed it up so they paid out a paltry £120k once) . Meanwhile in the UK there are up to 1M children now maimed by Vaccine Derived Autism , and they are directly responsible for the 150,000 in Ireland also .
And we can add to Irelands woes , the fluoridation of the public water supply in 1963 , the most heavily fluoridated population in the world (no accident I would argue). The RC church sold out their people once again (according to Russell Blaylock the UK had its hand in that decision) ,

So please forget Wakefield and his licence . And AW knows it . The Walker Smith ruling was a miracle .
We are locked down tighter than anywhere , the state censorship here is astounding.
Its business as usual in the UK , let the child poisoning continue .

Being of English blood myself I know full well what you mean, Hans. The bigger the threat, the more they pretend that no such threat even exists. That’s stage one, which we’re still in. Once this tactic begins to look hazardous, then it’s onto stage two, whereby the intelligentsia all try and outdo one-another with brilliant-sounding schemes in an effort to revert back to stage one. It’s this subsequent stage that one might look forward to. The BBC cannot sustain wilfully ignoring this particular issue, nor could they afford to, beyond a certain point, lest they lose credibility in face of ever-increasing public awareness.

      Just to add Hans,

I’m sure you know this already, but the fact that The Guardian reviewed Vaxxed indicates that they are not quite so immune to this issue (pun intended) as they would wish to appear.

Meanwhile over at AoA (that site is so hard to stomach at times) .

We have the stalwart vaccine campaigner Jenny Allen promoting the annual flu vaccine (with themiserol) ,
thanks Jenny , the old demise pill that Bertrand Russell spoke of . She says she takes it herself but I dont believe her (my comment was censored , presumably for being too knowledgeable) .

And apparently Olmsted\Blaxill say there is a case for the pertussis vaccine (which I understand was withdrawn in Scandanavia because efficacy was so poor <70% , and outbreaks of pertussis in the fully vaccinated , I guess they are counting on everyone to have forgotten that ) . Blaxill was saying that there was a case for the Rubella vaccine a year or so back .
So basically AoA seems to me to be a Pro-vaccine website currently.

      Hans –

I think it’s an interesting one – I can’t speak for AoA, but I’ve noticed how a number of those branded ‘anti-vaccine’ have increasingly adopted a kind of toned-down, balancing act by way of argument. I think it more than likely that this demonstration of a more moderated position is partly to avoid being labelled as a ‘conspiracy theorist’ who adopts extremist viewpoints, such as those (on the ‘other’ side) whose perspectives are inevitably crippled by virtue of their being maniacally one-sided (pro-vaccine). Ironically, the latter appear increasingly conspiratorial and flat-out nutty.

Insofar as this type of safeguarding approach is concerned (to the extent that it may be true) I see it as understandable and by no means foolhardy.

The US’s health regulators have been hiding data that establishes that vaccines have been causing autism and neuro-developmental disorders, a whistle-blower claims. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has been forced to release documents that reveal that vaccines increase the risk nearly eight times.
Under Freedom of Information legislation, the CDC has released data that “proves unequivocally that in 2000, CDC officials were informed internally of the very high risk of autism, non-organic sleep disorder and speech disorder associated with thimerosal exposure,” said CDC epidemiologist Thomas Verstraeten. Thimerosal is a preservative that contains mercury included in most vaccines until 1999 in the US, and is still used in small quantities in many flu shots today.

It appears that the 7.6 times raised risk was known throughout the CDC, and a 1999 paper referring to it was published only after it had been approved at the highest levels of the organisation.

Not happy at all . MB knows vaccination causes tens of millions of cases of autism globally and is apparently not anti-vaccine . Absolutely friggin incredible . Dumbfounded at the cheek of the man.
You can just as easily point fingers at a government that is unwilling to mention the name of the problem. In our case it’s the autism epidemic. In this case radical Islam.

You can speak the truth without being anti-vaccine, or anti-muslim.

    • The name of the problem is not the autism epidemic, it’s the vaccine-autism cover-up. The autism epidemic is only the consequence of that problem in that same way that 9/11 and 49 people murdered in a gay Orlando nightclub are consequences of radical Islamic terror.

    Jake –

Just to play devil’s advocate a moment (but I think it a pretty mundane observation); irrespective of what transpires re any re-analysis by Thompson, do you think it possible that Hooker was alerted to this information as part of a rather low-caliber effort to get a rise out of the anti-vax/pro-vax-safety movement?

It occurred right on the heels of the 12-year old boy stunt, which almost certainly was performed so as to paint the movement in as vile a light as possible (it did not succeed, but they are scraping).

Why would Hooker receive such advance-notice, from a potentially opposed source, that could only serve to alert him and others of like mind in advance, unless their was more to it? As a destructive scenario for the pro-vax ‘alertists’, there’s much to be gained: create mistrust between Hooker and others within his circle, make the anti-vax/pro-safe-vax movement appear unhinged as well as turn against Thompson so as to put him off appearing for congress etc.

Incidentally, I don’t for a moment think that Hooker made it up, he’s not the type and there’s nothing for him to gain in doing so, only to lose. Of course this hypothetical would imply an odd sort of communication between Thompson and his attorney/s, or perhaps no communication.

    Just a thought…

    (Just to add…)

Of course it’s also possible that Thompson had genuinely intended to publicly retract his earlier statement, but owing to efforts to dissuade him from doing so, decided against it. Or indeed, that he still genuinely intends to (which wouldn’t necessarily preclude the notion stated in my previous comment).

Note Orac’s choice of words here from his most recent post –

‘Yes, the pertussis vaccine is imperfect and immunity can wane, but it’s still quite protective. As for the measles vaccine, it’s quite effective. The efficacy of the flu vaccine does fluctuate from year to year, depending on the match between the types in the vaccine and what is circulating, but it’s still better to receive it than not.’

Both the DTaP and the MMR are ‘quite’ protective and effective. Not ‘very’, nor ‘highly’, nor even ‘reasonably’, but just ‘quite’. ‘Quite’ tends to range from ‘not very good at all’ to ‘pretty good’ – and that, coming from the most vitriolic of PVE’s.

If I had to balance out my position of vaccine effectiveness with integrity of judgement, I’d be drawn to ‘quite’ as well. It is the only term available short of betraying serious misgivings about their effectiveness.

Over 100 Freedom of Records Act (FOIA) requests have finally forced the euphemist US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to admit a widely used vaccine preservative is the equivalent of a neurological armageddon.

With help from PhD Scientist and Biochemist, Brian Hooker, the agency has finally had to reveal that they have known for years that thimerosal, which was banned in 1999, but still used in over 60 vaccines, causes autism. Robert F. Kennedy has been trying to alert the public of the same troublesome findings that Hooker has unveiled, but he is often dismissed, or worse, made into a media fool by the pharmaceutical industry.

Released in the documents are statements that indicate that the CDC has been sitting on information that would be of high value to those who have been for years investigating the link between vaccines and autism. As reported by Health Advice:
