Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig on Vaccines – A College Grudge?

By Jake Crosby

Some “journalists” spread misinformation denying the dangers of vaccines because they are trained to by CDC, for which they deserve none of the protections intended for a free press and should be fully investigated by Congress. For The New Republic’s newly-hired Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig – who wrote hit-pieces against Rand Paul and Chris Christie while ignoring Obama contradicting himself on vaccines – the most likely reason is a lot pettier. It goes back to her years as a student at Brandeis University where she seemed to have developed a personal grudge against your humble blogger: me.

When I was an undergraduate student at my and Bruenig’s alma mater of Brandeis University, I began an initiative to found a student group dedicated to raising awareness for autism spectrum disorders on campus. Bruenig wrote an article for a campus newspaper that gave sole credit for the founding of the club to someone else and none to me. This was in spite of the fact that Bruenig was well-aware of my involvement in the club, and it was I who originally introduced her to the person she credited. So I contacted the newspaper about the inaccuracy, and a correction was made to the piece. End of story, or so I thought.

The issue merely lay dormant until later that same semester when de-licensed British doctor Andrew Wakefield gave a lecture at Brandeis University to respond to the unfounded allegations of fraud and unethical research leveled against him. I organized the event and invited him to speak, even though my opinion of him has since lowered substantially for his recent outing of a CDC whistleblower. On Facebook, I invited everybody I knew from Brandeis to Wakefield’s talk. That included Bruenig, who was a Facebook “friend” of mine at the time. She never showed up.

A few weeks after his talk, I suddenly saw that she had written a hit-piece against Wakefield in the same student newspaper where she previously failed to credit me with the founding of the club. Her article repeated many of the false allegations he addressed in his Brandeis talk, which she never attended despite my invite to her. She also wrote that the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine’s link to autism was disproved, even though she referred to the link between vaccines and autism being under “debate” in her earlier article.

Apparently, she decided to take it personally that I requested her article be corrected for an inaccuracy that was not only her fault, but possibly intentional. She also appeared to have boasted of her plan on Reddit to write her attack on Wakefield days before his Brandeis talk that she never went to. Ultimately, I left a since-removed comment under her article pointing out how her attack on Wakefield related to her earlier denial of credit to my role in the founding of a club. End of story, or so I thought again – how wrong I was.

Fast forward four years, and Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig has started writing articles attacking critics of the vaccine program just two days after she began writing for The New Republic. She even cited the dishonest work of international fugitive Poul Thorsen, knowing full-well of his fraud indictment.

In a truly ironic statement, Bruenig explained what it would take for voluntary vaccination to “work” in America:

“Unless we can manage to leave self-interest on the back burner and pull together in favor of our society’s most vulnerable people mainly for their own sake…”

Would Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig be willing to make her interest in protecting her own health secondary to that of “society’s most vulnerable people”? I doubt it, especially if she would continue to hold a grudge from her days as an undergrad – a grudge stemming from something that was her fault.

Letting a grudge from four years ago shape your views on an important public health issue is about as self-interested as it gets. The New Republic is already declining, but it hit a new low with the hiring of Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig.

25 Thoughts on “Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig on Vaccines – A College Grudge?

  1. Personally I think some young people think websites like Reddit are trendy and cool. Obviously many are more than willing to overlook inconvenient facts, such as Poul Thorsen’s embezzlement/fraud charges, whistleblowers or research that challenges vaccine safety or efficacy (Cochrane…) even when they are told about them point-blank.
I also think the sad fact is that there is money to be made for young people writing pro-pharma pieces- very much so in fact. Jobs like “pharmaceutical researchers,” “healthcare analysts,” etc. for pharma consulting firms…

It’s always a good thing to end the day with a look at the big picture. It may seem extraordinary that this wee lass is acting up in spite, however, I assure you there is a larger purpose for the kind of literary license she and the rest of the uninformed “science writers” are taking with our liberty.

It seems there is a interesting resurgence of Measles in developed countries. It seems the interesting resurgence of Measles in developed countries centers around highly vaccinated societies. It should be NO surprise at all that “science writers” like the cute little Catholic pie girl from Brandeis are reporting just the opposite.

From a science article entitled: “Lawrence Solomon: Vaccines can’t prevent measles outbreaks”

    We read:

“Dr. Poland noted 15 U.S. outbreaks between 2005 and 2011 and 33 in Europe in 2011 alone, involving more than 30,000 known cases. Meanwhile, the “UK has declared measles once again endemic.… such outbreaks result from both failure to vaccinate, and vaccine failure.”

“People’s failure to get vaccinated is deplorable, Dr. Poland often stresses. But the more fundamental problem stems from the vaccine being less effective in real life than predicted, with a too-high failure rate — between 2% and 10% don’t develop expected antibodies after receiving the recommended two shots. Because different people have different genetic makeups, the vaccine is simply a dud in many, failing to provide the protection they think they’ve acquired.

To make matters worse, even when the vaccine takes, the protection quickly wanes, making it unrealistic to achieve the 95%-plus level of immunity in the general population thought necessary to protect public health. For example, 9% of children having two doses of the vaccine, as public health authorities now recommend, will have lost their immunity after just seven and a half years. As more time passes, more lose their immunity. “This leads to a paradoxical situation whereby measles in highly immunized societies occurs primarily among those previously immunized,” Dr. Poland stated.

The measles vaccine’s inadequacy doesn’t end there, however. It “cannot be administered to those who are immunocompromised, who have allergies to vaccine components, or who are pregnant [among other limitations, leaving] a large enough segment of the population susceptible and unprotected from measles such that cases will continue to occur.”

The answer, according to Dr. Poland, lies in our genes. Because of their genetic predisposition, some people will not respond to the current measles vaccine, even with additional boosters. By the same token, the genetic predisposition of others makes them susceptible to harm from the measles vaccine, leading to public wariness, including among the well educated. ”

I don’t suppose it ever occurred to Elizabeth Stoker Bruenig, a professing believer in Christianity, that Jesus Christ never vaccinated a single soul.

Yet, if we end the day looking at the bigger picture we understand the purpose for smearing decent people for declining the worthless, totally dangerous MMR vaccine relates to California Senator Barbara Boxer’s campaign to federally force vaccinations by outlawing exemptions.

You do realise, don’t you, that this post reads exactly as a spiteful dig at someone you fell out with at University, and sulking because she didn’t agree with you – all the while being bitter because she’s landed a job at a well thought of publication – and you didn’t?

Because that is, *exactly* how it reads.

    Kind regards,

    • Actually, it reads exactly like a post calling out somebody for apparently forming her views out of spite while writing for a publication that looks to be on the verge of folding.

Hey look….by some totally uninformed gal named Marianne Williamson we have a “public health issue that over-rides individual liberty here….”

Wow! Same old foreign-owned vaccine-manufacturing drug company talking points by a gal with a worn-out tinge of a British accent, on a panel that seems to agree the “problem” is parents not subjecting their child(ren) to the live virus Measles, Mumps and Rubella vaccine.

The foreign-owned vaccine manufacturing drug giants control both sides of the argument.

If you want to stop “outbreaks” of diseases, stop goofing around with the diseases, and that means the only way to end the national illness is to end mass vaccinations.

If you have immunity to a disease and become exposed to the disease, what happens? Your body still has to fight it off, right? Doesn’t matter if its wild or vaccine-strain, you still get sick one way or another. The highly vaccinated still have to avoid contact with the disease, or they risk getting sick.

Constantly exposing Americans to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella isn’t a good thing unless you make money treating the persistence of man-made illness.

Vaccines to public health care are the ethical and moral equivalent of a US tire maker paying a guy to spread nails on the interstate highways.

I don’t trust either one of them .

70% of congress refuses to give details on their own families vaccine schedule’s .

Robert Kennedy tells us all 6 of his children have been vaccinated , BUT NO FURTHER DETAILS THAN THAT.
Robert have your children taken all 40+ vaccines ? please tell us the DETAIL

With a further 200+ vaccines in the pipeline planned for the near future . With non-existent FDA\CDC hurdles to get over – THESE vaccines will happen .

If they can mandate the childhood vaccines in California , then lets mandate the flu-Hg vaccine for all doctors and all medical staff (at least then we can make a serious dent in the people who perpetuate this holocaust .)

Challenge to Dan Olmsted & Mark Blaxill , you are both clearly pro-vaccine ,
Well both of you need to make sure to take the Flu-Hg vaccine this year and every year going forward .

Reminding everyone here how Maurice Hilleman described vaccines
“bargain basement healthcare technology” – Vaccines are rubbish (but as a weapon highly successful).

And why does no-one on our side never want to talk about Tetanus-Kenya-Sterilisations ?

    White Rose,

Malcolm was lucky to recover. Thirty-nine year old National Broadcasting Company television journalist David Bloom wasn’t.

Traveling with the US Third Infantry April 6th, 2003, he suddenly died reportedly due to pulmonary embolism after a deep vein thrombosis (mystery blood clots) probably caused by vaccination.

UPI’s Mark Benjamin and various others, including CBS NEWS Sharyl Attkisson, reported the death along with the fact that David had recently received several vaccines ahead of deploying with the troops.

Fully knowing what caused their dad’s death, the DC media looks at his twin daughters once a year when the press club gives out the David Bloom Award. If anybody deserves or has the obligation to scrutinize the foreign-owned vaccine-manufacturing drug giants, it’s them.

All the more reason to raise a stink over NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams and his totally false story about taking flak in Iraq. David Bloom was a good man.

BTW, who can forget Brian Williams and Bob Bazell playing patty-cake with Autism causation during “Sponge” Bob Wright’s NBC Universal “Better Diagnosis Week”? Bazell was boasting about so called Autism research that hadn’t even been conducted by the likes of international fraud fugitive Poul Thorsen, M.D.

    David died from vaccines.
