EPOCH TIMES: Italy’s New Mandatory Vaccine Law Will Fuel A Populist Backlash

(Courtesy of Health Freedom Idaho)

Autism Investigated Note: A new day, a new epoch! Autism Investigated’s editor breaks his two-year hiatus from contributing to The Epoch Times to describe Italy’s growing populist movement against mandatory vaccination.

On July 28, a new law passed final approval in Italian parliament that will impose steep fines, school segregation and exclusion from daycare on families who refuse to vaccinate their children according to the Ministry of Health’s schedule.

In the months leading up to the law’s passage, the measure was met with stiff resistance and mass protest by opponents who correctly argue that the law would infringe on their personal liberties. With a strong populist opposition movement already surging in Italy—which opposed the new law—voters will undoubtedly be thinking about this law when they vote in next year’s Italian election.

Italy’s 5 Star Movement (Movimento 5 Stelle, or M5S for short) has been surging in Italian election polls and is already neck-and-neck with the ruling party: Italy’s very own Democratic Party (Partico Democratico).

M5S’s leader Beppe Grillo, like President Donald Trump, had already made a name for himself on television long before entering politics. A professional comedian, Grillo’s specialty was political satire. But M5S is no more a satire than Trump’s campaign was a reality show; M5S is now the most formidable populist opposition party in Europe.

Last December, M5S played a major role in opposing constitutional changes proposed by then-Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. They were voted down in a referendum by a 60 percent majority, resulting in Renzi’s resignation. Yet Renzi’s Democratic Party is still bold enough to lead the push for national vaccine mandates, despite what also happened in America.

Renzi’s political counterpart Barack Obama denied there were any reasons to not get vaccinated. Hillary Clinton made it clear in a tweet to her millions of followers that vaccination should not be questioned. California’s Democratic Party was also behind a state law signed by Governor Jerry Brown in June 2015 that stripped away religious and philosophical exemptions from vaccination.

By contrast, America’s own populist candidate Donald Trump said on a debate stage in front of millions of viewers that he supported spacing out vaccines and that he believed this would have a huge impact on autism. His then-opponent, former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Dr. Ben Carson agreed with Trump about spacing vaccines out. Carson also later endorsed Trump during the primaries.

The voters who elected Trump and rejected Clinton knew where both candidates stood on vaccinations. Similarly, Italian voters will head to the ballots in next year’s election knowing that Italy’s populists stood up for their vaccine exemption rights while Italy’s Democrats stripped them away.

Letting the Science Speak Against Mercury in Vaccines

Editor’s Note: Below is my review of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s book “Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak” for The Epoch Times.

By Jake Crosby

Review: ‘Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak,’ Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Skyhorse Press)

The vaccine preservative and title subject of the book “Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak” may not be as well-known as the book’s editor, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental lawyer and son of the late attorney general Robert F. Kennedy. Yet the public’s lack of knowledge about thimerosal is perhaps all the more reason why this book is so important, especially since the paperback edition (to be released Sept. 1) now contains 17 previously-written chapters that were excluded from the hardcover edition for being “too combustible,” according to Kennedy.

Roughly 50 percent mercury by weight, thimerosal is labeled “very toxic.” Mercury is the most toxic non-radioactive element on earth and second overall. One would think those facts would be enough to end its use in any medicine once and for all, but if that were the case this book would never have been written. Despite the toxicity of mercury, it remains present in many routine vaccinations in the form of thimerosal, and its ongoing use remains staunchly defended by the vaccine industry.

The book’s subtitle, “The Evidence Supporting the Immediate Removal of Mercury—a Known Neurotoxin—from Vaccines,” makes clear this book is more than just a case for why thimerosal is dangerous. Kennedy makes a compelling argument for vaccines to no longer contain thimerosal, from its toxicity, to its lack of necessity, to its association with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, and finally to the neglectful and even fraudulent attempts to hide that association by government agencies and media outlets.

As a result of mercury’s ongoing use in vaccines, “we are gambling with population health through the same intervention that we use to protect it,” as Harvard neurologist Dr. Martha Herbert concisely stated in the book’s introduction.

Some chapters such as the one on the biological basis for thimerosal causing autism contain scientific terms that may be difficult to follow without knowledge of college-level biology. Such is the challenge of making a case for causality of a behavioral disorder at the cellular level. Yet this is a challenge the book takes on commendably.

There is a new chapter on Dr. William Thompson, the senior scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) who blew the whistle on his colleagues for hiding evidence of vaccines causing autism. There’s also a new forward by Congressman Bill Posey who recently read an explosive statement by Thompson to Congress.

The paperback edition of “Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak” has some of the same weaknesses as its hardcover predecessor. It is simply counter-intuitive to write a book outlining the proof for thimerosal’s role in causing autism only to cast doubt on that proof, as is done in the book’s preface by Dr. Mark Hyman. Kennedy and the other contributors to the book also still fall for the age-old trap of trying to prove they are not “anti-vaccine,” a burden no critic of the vaccine program should face or bother satisfying.

Overall, however, the book delivers well on its promise by making the case against the use of thimerosal in commonly administered, routine vaccinations by letting the science on the subject “speak” so to speak. That is something federal health agencies, media outlets and a myriad of special interests behind thimerosal’s continued use do not allow. For that reason, readers now have a unique opportunity to let the science supporting thimerosal’s immediate removal from vaccines speak to them by giving “Thimerosal: Let the Science Speak” a well-deserved read.

The CDC Whistleblower’s Coerced Apology To Andrew Wakefield

By Jake Crosby

Above is a purported text message exchange between CDC whistleblower Dr. William Thompson and de-licensed British doctor Andrew Wakefield. The conversation allegedly took place on the day Thompson released a public statement confirming his allegations that CDC committed research misconduct in omitting associations of autism with early measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccination. Also confirmed by Dr. Thompson’s press release was that Wakefield outed him without permission to do so, as first reported on Autism Investigated.

This supposed exchange between Thompson and Wakefield, along with another between Thompson and Wakefield’s wife, are often cited to wrongly deny Wakefield betrayed Thompson by outing him. Never considered is the circumstances under which Thompson presumably apologized to Wakefield, where Thompson likely felt heavily coerced into doing so.

By the time he supposedly issued that apology, Thompson learned the hard way that any information he disclosed which was subsequently shared with Wakefield could be publicly released by him anytime at will. Such information includes phone conversations Dr. Thompson had with autism parent and scientist Dr. Brian Hooker, who tape-recorded Thompson without his knowledge. Snippets of those recordings have been released in videos posted online by Wakefield’s Autism Media Channel which was how Thompson was outed in the first place.

Wakefield clearly has no shame in what he did, having previously lied to Autism Investigated that he had obtained permission to release Dr. Thompson’s identity when he had not prior to Thompson’s press release. This lack of permission from Thompson to out him would later be deemed “irrelevant” by Wakefield in an email response to journalist Celia Farber. She had been covering the whistleblower story for The Epoch Times and posted what were purported to be Wakefield’s and his wife’s text message exchanges with Thompson on her personal blog that included what is perhaps his coerced apology to Wakefield.

Apparently agreeing with what Wakefield wrote her, Farber issued the below challenge to Autism Investigated:

“In terms of timeline, Dr. Thompson was kindly inclined toward Dr. Wakefield on Aug 20, 2014 [Note: date is wrong, it was Aug 27, 2014], AFTER the events you describe as treacherous to Dr. Thompson. This is detailed in published texts between the two of them, as well as dr. Wakefield’s wife Carmel. Please square this with your thesis. I am curious. Confused.”

With Thompson now outed to the very people at CDC whom he is blowing the whistle on, among the last things he would want is yet more information he shared to be publicly released by Wakefield prematurely. That would surely be one of the last things Thompson’s lawyers would want as well.

No wonder he may want to make nice with Wakefield. Not doing so could jeopardize Thompson’s position as a whistleblower all the more.

Addendum: See on The Epoch Times.

Correction: Dr. Thompson has never confirmed the alleged text message exchanges between him and the Wakefields. This article has since been altered slightly to reflect that fact.
