PETITION: Remove Steve Silberman as the Closing Keynote Speaker from the 47th National ASA Conference.

Steve Silberman is an autism writer that trivializes the disabilities that autistics face.  When he was criticized for not including descriptions of low functioning autistics that wear diapers and bang their heads in his book Neurotribes, he said in an interview “Disability is Part of the Human Experience”.

The book Neurotribes claims that famous figures in history were autistic, but does not give much evidence to support those claims.  Additionally, the book only offers vague and questionable solutions for employment among Autistics.  He claims that the largest rise of the rate of Autism in California was in Silicon Valley, but this is actually no larger compared to most of California.

He will be speaking at the annual Autism Society of America conference on Saturday, July 16, 2016.  He must be stopped, as the Autism Society of America must openly recognize the extent of the negative effects of Autism.

Here is what commenters to the petition had to say about Silberman speaking there:

Low-functioning autistics matter, and for someone as influential in the autistic community as Mr. Silberman to imply that they don’t, is not only lacking in any sort of empathy, but it’s also harmful in terms of refusing to try to help those autistic people.

My 10 year old sister is severely autistic, and will never have the normal future other kids will. She’s been robbed. I do believe that this man should NOT be speaking for ones like her.

Acknowledgement of the significant negative impact on the lives of severely autistic individuals and their lives must be included in any discussion about autism. Mr Silberman misrepresents the condition.

There are a lot of people with Autism who have the ability to do so much and that is fantastic but there are also lots of vulnerable people with Autism, some with other medical conditions also who cannot survive without the help of others and they suffer greatly because there is not enough in place for them, lack of trained staff etc. in the USA and the UK. Parents taking the young persons life and their own because they cannot face leaving their loved one alone when they pass. The greatest fear for parents is ‘what will happen to their child when they are no longer able to look after them’ Life is very hard for parents and the person they look after without any real help. To put it in plain english ‘it is hell and parents are running on LOVE to keep them going’. I should know as I am speaking from experience.

Bill Gates took part in criminally negligent vaccine experiments on poor Indian children
June 22nd, 2016, by Mary Wilder
Bill Gates is one of the most iconic businessmen of all time. For years, his name has been synonymous with success. And now, his name is synonymous with evil.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has been hit with a lawsuit for testing vaccines on poor, tribal children in India. This, of course, is highly illegal, not to mention completely immoral. How any human being could justify testing such a product on innocent children is unfathomable, and yet the Gates Foundation has done just that.

The organization administered a research study where a small group of children were used as guinea pigs for an experimental Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine.

The Economic Times – India reports that after being given the vaccine, “many girls started falling ill and by 2010 five of them died. Two more deaths were reported from Vadodara, Gujarat, where an estimated 14,000 children studying in schools meant for tribal children were also vaccinated with another brand of HPV vaccine, Cervarix, manufactured by GSK.”

It’s an absolutely terrifying thought. One of the most successful and powerful men on the planet is involved in these disturbing experiments that have left numerous children dead. Considering the nature of their location, how many more are there that haven’t been reported? Why is testing vaccines on human beings considered acceptable?

It’s clear that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation doesn’t consider the lives of tribal children to be important, since they’ve colluded to have them used as test subjects. A report that was allegedly funded by the Gates Foundation claims that the deaths were caused by non-vaccine-related factors, but how reputable is that? This rabbit hole seems endlessly corrupt.

In life, you must be held accountable for your actions. Bill Gates’ hefty bank account shouldn’t make him exempt from that rule.

Why are we still reacting to people like this, with such ‘righteous indignation’?

Why are we still acting ‘so surprised’ by their actions, and pretending to be so ‘blind sided’ by their behaviour… when this all that we’ve seen for at least the last 20 years or more???

The fact the you’re studying for a Phd in anything, means you have nothing in common with any autistic child that I’ve ever met.

But your continual production of pseudo journalistic pieces like the one , on a web-site that calls itself autism ‘investigated’…. makes me seriously question what your real motives are. And who’s side of this debate you’re REALLY on.

If you want to prove me wrong, then do some actual investigating. Dig up some shit on this piece of vermin, and use your websit top expose him what he’s doing.

And more importantly, to expose who he’s doing it for.
