The State Department Non-Response To Complaint Against Peter Hotez

Weeks ago, Autism Investigated complained to the State Department about Peter Hotez’s diplomatic appointment to the US-Israel Binational Science Foundation. After weeks of no reply, the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs finally responded with an unsigned email. They did so only to tell Autism Investigated that the email address they provided for contact on their own website should not have been contacted. They couldn’t even spell their own email address right. Very diplomatic…

Read the email, Autism Investigated has inserted bracketed comments throughout.

Dear State Department Bureau of Oceans & International Environmental & Scientific Affairs,

I am writing to ask that you remove Dr. Peter Hotez from the US Israel Binational Science Foundation. He has proven himself unfit to represent our country in any diplomatic capacity. At an academic keynote lecture he just delivered, Dr. Hotez called organizations like Texans for Vaccine Choice and the National Vaccine Information Center “a hate group” and said “They are a hate group that hates [our] family and hates [our] children.”(1)

Whatever your opinion is of these specific groups, they are not hate groups. They seek to raise awareness for issues concerning vaccine safety and the right to opt out of school vaccine mandates for children.

Dr. Hotez is also extremely hypocritical to judge the intent of such groups when he is a member of the National Academy of Medicine (formerly the Institute of Medicine). The IoM produced reports proclaiming vaccination safe that purported to be scientific. In reality, IoM report authors had already decided in secret meetings to produce that conclusion at the behest of their federal sponsors before looking at any scientific evidence.(2)

Regardless of one’s position on vaccine safety, however, Dr. Hotez disqualifies himself from being worthy of such a position of international diplomacy. His zealotry, disregard of other viewpoints and contempt for people who do not share his ideological commitment to vaccination is a disgrace to our wonderful country and everything that we stand for. We should not have him representing US interests to any foreign partner here or abroad.

In my experience, when incorrect information appears in communications it usually means the emails, one way or the other or both, have been intercepted, and the response is from some other party. I don’t know how this is achieved technically, but I’m sure CIA and MI5 have the ability to do this if anyone does.

By law, Israel does not have mandatory vaccination. So what is Hotez doing there?
